How To Handle Problem Attendees And Hecklers On The Next Four Strategies For Winning In Webinar

When carrying out a webinar or web seminar presentation or whether you are on the phone running a teleseminar, or on the stage speaking live or giving a live presentation.

You are going to encounter problematic people. This may be the sought of people asking a lot of questions or people just problematic in other ways.

Other people may even be verbally abusive and hostile and others may be disrupting the experience being enjoyed by others.

In all these situations, there are four possible reactions you can carry out: dismiss, ignore, ask the crowd or turn around the objection.

The person interrupting your webinar presentation is definitely being immature. This person may be asking you the wrong questions or he/she might be simply yelling at you.

You as the presenter using the gotowebinar, will be able to see all the questions being asked by people in the room and answer such questions. However, other people in the room will not be able to see the questions being asked.

This gives you immense freedom and removes the need to actually police the chat room. You have the freedom to relay or not to relay whatever has been typed in by any person. So, if a question is an irritating one, you simply have a choice to ignore it.

If a particular person apparently cannot be ignored, the right thing to do is to dismiss such a person from the webinar. This can be done by going to the webinar interface and right clicking on the persons name then dismiss.

In situations where someone cannot learn from your webinar, a person is made angry by your presentation or a person thinks that your webinar is a waste of time, it would be much better for you and such a person to go separate ways. You have the freedom to dismiss your attendees because after all it is you who invited them. Next, if there is an issue being asked by many people, the best thing to do is turn around the objection. Once, I was explaining the procedure to be used in setting up a membership website in a webinar. This website was to be set up using particular software.

Multiple people in the webinar confronted me with the question of why I did not use cheaper or free software instead of the one I was using.

I chose not to ignore the question but to confront it. I explained that the software I was using was better than all other possible solutions such as the free solutions. I showed all the necessary facts making this software ideal. I explained to my audience, that to get a better service you have to pay for it and that the cheaper alternatives normally fail to deliver.

And finally, if problematic individuals are still encountered, better ask the crowd. Once, when giving a webinar some people had problems with my presentation. I simply stopped the webinar briefly and turned to the crowd asking them if they were getting what I as presenting. If I was too slow or too fast, majority of the crowd applauded that everything was fine and that I was using the right pace. So I moved on using the applause as a social proof. A disruption to your webinar by any individual should not mean the end of your dear world. You can dismiss the problematic person, ignore the irritating question, turn round the objection or simply seek the opinion of the entire crowd.
